MODFAB THINKS...there are two absolute locks in this category: Daldry and Paulus. The former has impeccable credentials (Oscar nominee, etc.), and the latter reinvigorated a musical beyond what anyone thought possible. I'm guessing Grief's frenzied stair-crawling will net him a nomination from the N2N adherents, and even though no one seems to like him as a person, Laurents is a legend who probably won't get too many more chances. Yes, that means I'm skipping over perennial awards-bait McAnuff (Jersey Boys) and Mantello (Wicked), who both turned in sub-par work this year.

DARK HORSE: Walter Bobbie is well-liked in the industry, and White Christmas could become an annual tradition on the Great White Way. I'm not saying it's going to happen, only that it might.
