Lilies, Live!

Long-time readers who have followed me since my days as a film critic know of my obsession and fascination with Lilies (Les Feluettes), John Greyson's award-winning 1996 movie adaptation of the genius play by Michael Marc Bouchard. Weird and romantic and difficult and whimsical and unconventional and powerful, it's one of those artistic experiences that stays with you for years. (If you haven't seen it, you must -- here's the NetFlix link. And don't freak out, English-speakers; both the play and the film are in your native tongue.)

I got incredibly excited to see that the Bouchard play is getting a one-night-only performance here in New York by Deconstructive Theatre Project, an up-and-coming company. They've assembled a terrific cast, including some big names: Colman Domingo (Passing Strange, The Big Gay Sketch Show) and Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Putnam County Spelling Bee). I've already got my ticket...how about you?
