Wanted: Alienated Teen Actors With Radioactive Spider Bites...

There's an open call on July 28th Julie Taymor's Broadway-bound musical version of Spider-Man ...and they're looking for unknowns to play the leading parts of Peter Parker and Mary Jane. With music by U2, I'm guessing they're looking for rock voices...and I'm guessing they probably want pretty people, too. (The good news about the casting of unknowns? It means the rumors about Rachel Evan Wood and Jim Sturgess, the vaguely incompetent stars of Across The Universe, are unfounded. Hallelujah.)

If you're not interested in turning a movie into a Broadway musical, though, perhaps you'd prefer instead to audition the other way -- snag a role in a musical that is turning into a Hollywood movie! You're in luck, my friend...both Jesus Christ Superstar and Wicked have movie versions in the works.

it both delights and terrifies me that Wicked has a movie version in the works. Oy vey! And have you heard the Spiderman musical demos? oh dear. Once i saw a spiderman musical (unrelated) at Universal Studios. It was desperation in the extreme. I did love the actor notes e.g. "joe smith - tv: fourth kadava in CSI Miami" - brilliant!

I'd have to disagree on the first JCS film: hippies in the desert? I think Norman Jewison is a first-rate director but it's a slow-moving and uninspired piece of filmmaking. But, of course, it depends on who's directing the new version and what her/his concept might be...
