Theatrical Pride

I thought I'd celebrate Pride Day today by looking back at last week's Broadway Bares, the annual burlesque fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Each year, New York's theatrical community comes out in all sorts of ways (of the closet, of their clothes, etc.) to raise money for one of the world's most urgent needs. This year, the theme was "Alice In Wonderland." Insert rabbit hole joke here.

I don't usually cover Broadway Bares in depth because, frankly, it's a gotta-be-there kind of experience, and photographs usually don't capture the magic of it very well. (There are some truly pathetic attempts at homemade videos of the event on You Tube; search for them if you wish, but prepare to be let down by the videographers' inability to hold the camera still.)

But these photos from Tomas Vrzala (including the ones below) are just breathtaking, and so I had to share. He's got about 1,000 more gorgeous shots here. Tomas, you are a master!
