For What It's Worth (An Ode To Chris March)...

On Project Runway this season, I have loved Rami's work from Day 1, and even defended his singleminded aesthetic. (Designers aren't supposed to do everything, they're supposed to have a point of view.) However, last night I think Chris March was robbed. Sure it was dramatic and over-the-top...but the proficiency and detail were astonishing, and he exhibited more imagination in those three dresses than anyone else this season.

I don't think Christian has much to worry about in next week's season finale...certainly, Rami won't pose much of a threat. Watch out for Jillian on the outside, though; if nothing else, girlfriend makes one seriously badass jacket.

I totally agree with you. March should have won the whole shebang.

And as far as Christian winning goes: The winner of the fan favorite has never gone on to win the competition (Michael Knight, Sam from Top Chef, Tabetha from Shear Genius), so I'm putting my money on Jillian.

Totally agree. If you can get over the human hair aspect, Chris' designs were outstanding. Though, I probably would have used a faux fur instead.

I don't think Rami showed his three best looks. I wanted him to go to Bryant Park on the strength of this dress alone.

Yeah, the human hair stuff did him no favors. He was still my fan favorite (with Christian a close second).

Even MrStinky, who's been mocking Chris all the way along, had to agree...

why were they so freaked out by human hair on the clothes? what do they think a wig is made of? and that goes on your head

as much as i wanted chris to win he never really had a chance; i refuse to believe the judges were open to any other possibility than rami going to fashion week. they were never going to let a costume designer end up at bryant park

as for a winner - jillian herself admitted at her parents house:
she. will. not. be. stopped.

well, i guess i'll be the lone dissenter here. I think they chose the right top 3. I didn't like Jillian for a long time but slowly i came to realize: HUGE TALENT.

As for March. His designs were sometimescreative and sometimes fun but top three when his color choices were so often unfortunate or blah? Nope.

I am in complete agreement, and I am disappointed in the judges for failing to live up to their numerous statements over the seasons. Again and again they have talked about wanting to see what was next and being creative and innovative. It was obvious that March had come up with a set of designs that left the judges wanting to see what was next because they'd never seen anything like it before. Rami? It wasn't all that different from what we had seen from him. It was just that he had more time to make his work more tailored, not that he had done anything that was new for him. And that blue coat was a big old mess and nobody called him on it. But March? I was dying to see what came next. I wanted to see the entire line after that set of three looks, all of them so different from anything we had ever seen on Project Runway before. Nobody in the history of that show had pushed the envelope like that. Remember Jeffrey Necktattoo and his Trashion(tm) line? They all talked about he was oh so innovative. That was a pimple on the show March put on with just three outfits. Chloe? There were Chloe elements in Rami's blue mess of a coat (she did stuff with volume) and here work was actually pretty ordinary in many ways even though I liked it a lot, but she wound up the big winner. March? Like nothing we've ever seen before.

That was a ridiculous decision. Absolutely ridiculous.

I have to agree that Chris was robbed. And I am with Par3182 that I also did not understand why everyone was begged out about the human hair. His work was lovely. I am rooting for Christian.

I also didn't understand the hair issue. Honestly, I think it was just an excuse to get rid of him. If Rami has used hair (imagine THAT draped piece), they would be gushing about his innovation.

I think I've checked out of this season because of the elimination.

I have to agree. Here he steps out of his comfort zone (in which they criticize everyone for remaining) and actually produce something beautiful and strange, and they get rid of him.
And Rami's 3 gowns were not that good.
