At The Disco, No Need To Panic...

The band offers a sneak peek of "We're So Starving," a new tune from their upcoming sophomore disc, on their MySpace page. I'm unimpressed. How about you?

Speaking of poor showings, here's an interesting list over at Hollywood Insider of the musical acts that lost their major label deals in 2007 through attrition, consolidations, being dropped, or expiration. Some you've never heard of, but some are surprisingly big names: Christina Milian, Dandy Warhols, DMX, Fischerspooner, INXS, JC Chasez, Jewel, Kelis, Liz Phair, Moby, Paul McCartney, Ruben Studdard, Shaggy, The Donnas, White Stripes. The music industry is changing so fast, isn't it...

Some of those are pretty surprising, while others it's kind of obvious. But so many record companies have this mentality of money vs. art. So who knows who'll be getting dropped in 2008.

vance, that is because fall out boy "discovered" them. whatever - they are both very tired. i predict this will tank

as for the list of drops, well, some are actually fortunate. since some of them are because of label closures/mergeres, they cant be totally blamed for putting out shit. but moby and fischerspooner and liz phair will all do well to go the route they started - indie.

I'm not really surprised at that list, none of them haven't had a major hit in a couple of years or ever (JC Chasez I'm looking at you).
