Tonight, Tonight, Won't Be Just Any Night...

Now THIS will tell which of you are true, dedicated Broadway show queens....and which of you are here just for the soft core beefcake and Kylie Minogue tunes. Below is a video of rehearsal last Sunday for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS' 19th Annual Gypsy of the Year, which paid tribute to the 50th anniversary of West Side Story by flying in 22 cast members of the original 1957 Broadway cast, who danced and sung with Broadway newcomers in the opening number.

In the medley, there's Ken LeRoy (original Bernardo), Mickey Calin (original Riff) along with all original Jets performing the "Jet Song", Carol Lawrence (original Maria) performing "I am Pretty", and the one and only Chita Rivera in "A Boy like that," among many others. If you're like me, you'll get a little teary watching it. Because these are forgotten legends...and because there are 80-year-old women who can kick their legs higher than you can.
