Stage Addiction Supplement: Strike Negotiations Resume
Broadway weathered Thanksgiving with 80,000+ empty seats over the four-day weekend...and there isn't a soul who wants to repeat that gloomy scenario for Christmas. So everyone's back at the table; some reports say that the most recent negotiations, which began Sunday, are going very well; others say they're not. It took a court order to get How The Grinch Stole Christmas open for its holiday season business, despite the best attempts of the theatre owners at Jujamcyn to keep it shuttered. The Little Mermaid postponed its opening night; so did August: Osage County, but that show's producers threw a lifeline to its fans by saying that they'll stay open an extra three weeks once the strike is over. Keep the faith, everybody.
