The Gayken...On Broadway!

Clay Aiken, the onetime American Idol finalist who was euphemistically described by Simon Cowell as "too Broadway" for pop stardom (translation: too light in the loafers), is fulfilling prophecy by coming, at long last, to the Great White Way. He'll be joining the cast of the Tony-winning musical Monty Python’s Spamalot in the role of Sir Robin, a role originated by the significantly less-flaming actor David Hyde Pierce, from January 18 to May 4. No word yet on whether Aiken can actually act, although his search for steamy online gay sex last year was certainly dramatic.

With the Gayken on one side of 44th street and Xanadu on the other, one has to ask: will Shubert Alley explode like a nuclear bomb from the combined force of all that repressed homosexuality? [via]

Could we perhaps propose to dear Mayor Bloomberg that the traffic markings on 44th Street be changed to nice rainbow stripes? I think that would be wonderfully festive.

Can't wait for (hopefully) YouTube clips. For some reason, the words "great stage actor" do not appear when I think of Clay.
