Awards From Venice

It may be long, but it must also be brilliant: Ang Lee's Lust, Caution won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, which follows up his 2005 win for Brokeback Mountain. But there were plenty of prizes for American-born artists as well; the Silver Lion for Best Director went to Brian De Palma for Redacted, and a special jury prize went to Todd Haynes' I'm Not There...which also scored the Best Actress trophy for Cate Blanchett. Brad Pitt was chosen as best actor for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Yay, the Oscar race has begun! [GreenCine Daily]
