Thinking Blogs

When you are chosen by a blog with the word brilliant in the title, it's quite an honor. Even moreso when the blogger is equally brilliant (so thanks sweetheart!). But this is a pay-it-forward kind of thing (or chain letter), so here it is. These are the rules:

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.

According to my Bloglines account, I now read 673 blogs daily. (Thank God for blogreaders, otherwise I'd never do anything else.) There are many I love, many obvious choices, but few that make me genuinely reconfigure my worldview. So enjoy the five I've chosen below, and bookmark them...hopefully, they'll change you as much as they've changed me.

Five Blogs that Make Me Think:

My Cabinet of Distractions -- Sharp but poetic observations about the world we live in, from one of the most lyrical writers on the web. In my idea of heaven, this would be the narrative.

DoubleCrossed -- The 2007 ModFab Gallery Best In Show winner, Tanja-Tiziana Burdi documents the visual landscape of Toronto with an exquisitely artistic eye. She's just published her first photo book, which I'm dying for a copy of (once I finish paying off the bills!).

Gladwell.com -- The blog of Malcolm Gladwell, author of Blink and The Tipping Point, is always thought-provoking...and discussing the elemental issues that, in a better world, should be a larger part of our social dialogue.

Histriomastix -- Written by one of the nation's most best theatre critics, David Cote, this blog is a nuanced and passionate exploration of the field. He's also a tireless champion of new artists and the downtown theatre scene, which is re-emerging (finally) to reclaim its place as the creative forefront of the industry.

R Blog - Call her (and her blog) what you will, but Rosie O'Donnell blows the doors open on celebrity and decimates the wall between performer and audience. Her unapologetic honesty about politics, culture, and her own life, expressed in a writing style of her own devising, is one of the most transformative reads on the internet.

And tagged, five other great blogs (pass it on): 6 Things, It's My Dog's World, Low Resolution, Electroqueer, and 3Guys, 2K9s
