ModMusic: The Pipettes

Great news! One of last year's best new imports is finally getting released in the U.S. on August 28th: We Are The Pipettes, the debut platter by the new-millennium girl group of the same name. Regular readers of this site are already well-acquainted with the British trio, through our feature; it's sad that the record will come out at the end of summer, because I think their brand of catchy, sassy pop is perfect for the beach. Truthfully, though, music this fun and energizing is good all year round.

The group's first single, "Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me", has been climbing the domestic charts for a month or so; it's merely a taste of things to come for new listeners, who aren't aware that even better singles are in store. "Pull Shapes" is the obvious follow-up, but my favorite track is "Judy", about the girl in school who you'd love to punch in the face...but would probably kick your ass if you did. Better for depression that Wellbutrin, I swear!
