Cannes Announces Lineup

How great is that poster, huh? The lineup for next month's Cannes Film Festival has finally been announced, and while it's not quite as awesome as we'd hoped (sorry, Todd Haynes fans!), there's still plenty to get excited about (yay, Kim Ki-Duk, Schnabel and Zvyagintsev fans!). Here's the competition list, which will make any serious cinema fan start foaming at the mouth:

Opening Night Film: My Blueberry Nights (dir. Wong Kar-wai)
Closing Night Film: L'Âge des ténèbres (dir. Denys Arcand)
Auf der anderen Seite (dir. Fatih Akin)
Une Vieille Maitresse (dir. Catherine Breillat)
No Country for Old Men (dir. Joel and Ethan Coen)
Zodiac (dir. David Fincher)
We Own the Night (dir. James Gray)
Les Chansons d'amour (dir. Christophe Honore)
Mogari No Mori (dir. Naomi Kawase)
Breath (dir. Kim Ki-duk)

Alexandra (dir. Aleksandr Sokurov)
Death Proof (dir. Quentin Tarantino)
The Man from London (dir. Béla Tarr)
Izgnanie (The Banishment) (dir. Andrey Zvyagintsev)

Out of Competition:
Sicko (dir. Michael Moore)
Ocean's Thirteen (dir. Steven Soderbergh)
A Mighty Heart (dir. Michael Winterbottom)

Abel Ferrara's in the Midnight Screenings, and Harmony Korine and Barbet Schroeder are both in the Un Certain Regard sidebar. The feature jury: Stephen Frears (prez), Maggie Cheung, Toni Collette, Maria de Medeiros, Sarah Polley, Marco Bellocchio, Orhan Pamuk, Michel Piccoli and Abderrahmane Sissako. Yes, you read that right: Maggie friggin' Cheung and Toni friggin' Collette are going to be hanging out together! I am totally geeking!

Alright, calm down Gabriel...it's not like you'll be attending or anything. Thanks to indieWIRE and especially our buddies at GreenCine Daily for all the news. GreenCine rocks!
