Idol, Au Revoir: Stephanie Edwards

My, what having an off night can do. Stephanie Edwards, who had been impressing everyone over the last month with dynamic, full-bodied performances, sadly hit wrong notes and the wrong song on British Invasion Week (a genre not suited to her classic R&B style in the first place)...and that's all it took for voters to send her packing. As we learned in previous seasons with Tamyra Gray, Jennifer Hudson, Mandisa, Vonzell Solomon, Kimberly Locke, Trenyce and LaToya London, black women are not given second chances by the majority of Idol voters. And that's a shame...Stephanie is a talented girl, and certainly deserved to stay longer that Sanjaya Disastakar. Or bug-eyed Phil Stacey or Haley "Now I'm A Hoochie" Scarnato. But Idol requires an engaging television personality and a bit of diva shtick, and Stephanie had neither. Let's hope she goes on to bigger, better, and fairer things.

Two other items:
1) Chris Richardson in the bottom two? There is a God.
2) That little girl who cried for Sanjaya last night? She was a plant by the producers.
