You Tube of the Week: The Great Herring War

Because I am gay, I love the Golden Girls. (Or is it the other way around?) The 80's sitcom about a house of bawdy seniors is often considered the first gay sitcom, given the predilections of much of its writing staff and its frequent subject matter. But for me, it's the women themselves who make it endlessly watchable in repeats...it was so clear that they were having a great time. Here's the classic sketch "The Great Herring War", where Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan completely lose it, dropping character and laughing hysterically at Betty White, one of television's greatest female comediennes.
