Stage Addiction: I Suppose Weekend At Bernie's Is Next

- Desperately Seeking Susan...The Musical? Who decided this was a good idea? If this production comes to be, it is proof of two things: one, producers are desperate for ideas. And two: the terrorists are winning.

- I am totally digging the cast of Charles Busch's upcoming comedy at Manhattan Theatre Club, called Our Leading Lady. The lady in question will be Kate Mulgrew (Capt. Janeway!), who will be joined by Barbara Bryne (Into The Woods), Maxwell Caufield (Grease 2!), Ann Duquesnay (Noise/Funk) and Kristine Neilsen (Miss Witherspoon). Performances begin February 22 in the small space at City Center, so you can get right up close like the Trek geek you are.

- The Voysey Inheritance has been extended yet again, to February 10th. Its THIRD extension. I'm smelling a Broadway transfer, are you?

- Theatre Communications Group (the people who publish American Theatre magazine) have named a new Executive Director, Theresa Eyring. She's out of childrens' theatre, it seems. Perfect.

- If you missed High Fidelity before its abrupt and immediate closure two weeks ago, keep the faith: you might just get a cast recording to preserve its mediocrity for time everlasting.

Some quickie announcements, none of which are very inspiring:

- The revival of Inherit The Wind with Brian Dennehy and Christopher Plummer will begin performances at the Lyceum on March 19.
- Les Miserables has been extended through the summer.
- Tony nominee Pable Schreiber (Liev's brother, 'natch) will headline the new Christopher Shinn play, Dying City, at Lincoln Center beginning February 15th.
