Oscar-ology: Is The Academy Too White for Dreamgirls

God bless Tom O'Neil for saying what's on the mind of any intelligent film prognosticator. The waters are tremulous, the mainstream critics were bitter, and the Golden Globes were lukewarm. For those of us who liked the film, it feels like Brokeback all over again, except the minority has changed. Or maybe it's The Color Purple all over again, 20 years later. Most Academy voters are white, straight, male, and old; don't think it doesn't matter.

Question: has any film with a majority African-American cast ever won Best Picture? I'm honestly asking, and fighting the impulse to go check at IMDB.
