Dennis Blackwell Rocks Out

Well, okay, so rock is an unusual term to describe a classically trained baritone performing a solo recital. But if you've seen Dennis Blackwell perform -- on stage at New York City Opera, City Center, NYGASP, or elsewhere -- you know he is so wildly talented and sexy he will indeed rock you like a hurricane. (Word to your mutha.)

In this new evening of performance, Mr. Blackwell will perform works by Mozart, Schumann and Stravinsky. He'll also feature selections from the moving "AIDS Quilt Songbook", but for us, the real treat will be the world premiere of his first-ever commission, "Caballero Solo", a setting of the famed poem by Pablo Neruda by New York composer James Blachly. It's an evening too good to miss; I'll be there, and if you're coming, let me know and we'll bask in the heavenly sounds together.
