You Tube of the Week: Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson's new video for her comeback single, "So Excited", landed with a thud on the web last week, and we agree it's disappointing. The song's all right, but Miss Jackson has rarely settled for that...what suffices for a mediocrity like Monica or Rihanna simply will not do for an iconic legend like Janet. We know it's hard for a woman who has based so much of her career on youthful sex appeal to suddenly find herself in her 40's. (See: Madonna, Cher, etc.) But Janet's iconic videos have always charted her life, from angry young rebel to confident businesswoman to sexy scamp. If she can stop imitating the Pussycat Dolls and embrace her own truth again, she could return to power.

Here's a walk down memory lane, including our favorite Janet vid, "When I Think Of You", above. Compiling this list, I realized: Wow. These are some of the best videos ever made.

Miss You Much
I Get Lonely
Love Will Never Do (Without You)
That's The Way Love Goes
Doesn't Really Matter
Rhythm Nation
Together Again
Together Again (Deeper Remix)
What Have You Done For Me Lately
All For You
Someone To Call My Lover
