Angels In America (In Baltimore)
I'm happy to share a little personal tidbit of excitement: today I am hopping a train to Baltimore to begin rehearsals for Tony Kushner's iconic play Angels In America. Many of you may know it from the HBO miniseries, or its brilliant 1993 version on Broadway. I've been in pre-production since January, and cannot wait to get started -- the cast is brilliant, the production team is freakishly creative, and our thematic approach will make it different for anyone who's been familiar with the work in the past. We open in October; if you're in Charm City before November 11th, come check us out.
Angels in America is being co-produced by my theatre company, Madshag Performance Group; we've chosen today to debut our brand spanking new blog, where the actors and creative team will chronicle the process as it happens. Back here in New York, there'll be information on our upcoming projects like Lanford Wilson's The Madness of Lady Bright, which we're directing for the Off Stage Festival opening September 21st. Please visit and give us your thoughts...and add us to your blogreader subscriptions. Trust us, it'll be at least as fabulous as the stuff here, but with better commentary.
(For those who've seen our work before, you may wonder about the new name. We've transitioned from our old cocoon like a beautiful butterfly, with a more flexible organizational setup and a less dull monicker.)
