The Pirate Queen's Daily Diary

The Broadway-bound musical The Pirate Queen, from the director of Ragtime and the composers of Les Miserables, is making history by being the first Broadway musical to make a serious, ongoing commitment to internet audiences. They've come up with Castcom, a daily video podcast that will take viewers from the first rehearsals, through the out-of-town tryout in Chicago, all the way to opening night. If they stick with their plan for daily updates, that's quite something...especially since they don't open until next March. The series doesn't begin for two more weeks, but they've got a preview up now introducing the actors and characters -- which I have to admit interested me enough to get over my "Javert meets Riverdance" baggage about this show. You can subscribe to a reminder; don't know yet if you can get it through iTunes or not.
