Zimbabwe: A Great Place to Never, Ever Visit

Zimbabwe has expanded its sodomy laws to forbid any close physical contact -- a kiss or hug, even -- between two men or two women. Handshakes and high-fives are misdemeanors, we assume.

We're aware that much of the United States is not physically safe for LGBT people...violence against us at the hands of straight people happens every day, and as the recent losses in the marriage debate prove, we are still very much second-class citizens, even in the eyes of our friends. But I'll take America every day over many African, Middle Eastern or South American countries where we are killed, beaten, and tortured for something as life-affirming as a hug. [Rod2.0]
