This Week In Modern Fabulousity: March 6, 2006

Recovering from your Oscar hangover? Here's the cure for your Brokeback overload:

TELEVISION: Don't pretend that you don't already have the TiVo programmed for Wednesday; the season finale of Project Runway is set up to be a nailbiting finish between Santino and Daniel. (I don't expect Chloe to make the cut...she's got big billowy jackets in her collection that seem to scream 'dinner theatre'.) Will the forces of good triumph over the forces of ego and male pattern baldness? Say a little prayer to the fashion gods.

THEATER: The first big week of the spring season is upon us. Tonight sees the opening of Bernarda Alba at Lincoln Center (check out the fascinating profile in the NYT), followed on Tuesday by the musical Grey Gardens. (Inside word is that Christine Ebersole's performance as Little Edie would win the Tony...if it weren't playing Off-Broadway.) Friday sees the opening of lesbian writer/actor Lisa Kron's Obie-winning Broadway comedy Well, and Sunday ends the week with the Johnny Cash jukebox musical Ring of Fire. (The producers hope you will ignore the preview audiences, who are fleeing the theatre at intermission. Not good.)

GANGSTERS AND POLYGAMISTS: HBO is back, baby! Sunday night's appointment television now includes the long-awaited return of The Sopranos at 9 and the buzzworthy new Big Love at 10, about a man with three wives in neighboring houses (check out this cast: Bill Paxton, Chloe Sevigny, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Harry Dean Stanton, Mary Kay Place, Melora Walters, Ginnifer Goodwin, Grace Zabriski, and Tina Majorino). How do you choose between Desperate Housewives/Grey's Anatomy and Tony Soprano? You don't...again, it's TiVo time!
