Bush Goes After Google

In his continuing efforts to turn America into an Orwellian gulag, President Bush has asked a court to force Google to turn over "1 million random Web addresses and records of all Google searches from any one-week period." Why? Is Google a terrorist front? Is illegally tapping phone lines not fun anymore? Are the search results for "miserable failure" beginning to upset the Prez?

Sadly, it's just election-year politics: Bush would like to get the Child Online Protection Act back into play. (It was struck down in 2004 because it was completely ridiculous...it didn't really protect children, and was a rather obvious attempt to keep consenting adults from their constitutionally-protected online porn. Yeah, I said it. Constitutionally. Protected.)

Bush getting all of your search information would be a very dangerous precedent...another blow to personal privacy at the hands of Republifreaks. Stay vigilant (and thanks for the tip, Beaverhausen Blog.)
